Thailand’s Medical Services department collaborates with Huawei for 5G Healthcare

This partnership will see an upgrade of the two partner public hospitals along with 5G technologies.

Huawei Thailand and the Department of Medical Services have opted for a memorandum of understanding. They will now jointly work on the improvement and empowerment of the Thai health system with 5G healthcare.

Under its two-year agreement, Huawei will offer 5G technologies to its two partner public hospitals. The hospitals are Rajavithi Hospital and the National Cancer Institute. It will also supervise the implementation of the digital technologies and the hospital staff training for their better use.

The technologies will work based on telemedicine, such a remote diagnosis and monitoring. It will also help to minimize the risk of covid infection in the hospital.

It will also get a deployment for the emergency care service. Especially it will aid the ambulance transportation where the real-time information plays a vital role.

Huawei Thailand has said that this partnership is aiming to increase the efficiency of its medical service. It will also benefit the operations of the public health system to improve care delivery.

At the event of signing, they also demonstrated their use of a smart ambulance. They will also implement the telemedicine and home isolation solution that will get the support form, 5G.

As part of this mission, DMS is aiming to introduce its smart services. It will apply digital technologies with the help of 5G infrastructure, cloud edge computing, big data, and AI.

Thailand has taken part in pushing for 5G adoption in its healthcare industry. Last year in December, Siriraj Hospital signed an MoU with Huawei to experience an immediate upgrade in the existing infrastructure of the hospital.

The Thailand Health Data Space 5G project, is aiming to enhance the health system of this country across the dimensions. It wants to improve the sectors of information transmission, rehabilitation, emergency treatment, diagnosis, etc.

The project represents the first part of the development of the Big Data Health Information platform in Thailand. It has three components – a nationwide information system, big data infrastructure, and a network for health service applications.
