Health advocacy group recently congratulating new U.S Department of HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. The team is urging him to use this position to advance the digital health initiatives and to tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Senate came up with the confirmation of Becerra, who is going to become the first Latino person to hold a cabinet position. The confirmation took a longer time, and the vote was close enough than the expectations. ATA is urging the 117th Congress and this new administration to permanently remove all the geographic and originating site barriers. It is urging for removing the provisions in the law. They are mandating prior in-person relationships to best the patient and the practitioners for telehealthcare. It is also asking for the allowance in state licensing broads and practitioners to determine the proper standard to care for the patients.
Also, it is urging for ensuring Federally Qualified Health Centers and Rural Health Clinics that can furnish telehealth and receive reimbursement. The United States of Care is also joining in the chorus to emphasize the disparities in health care that came up during the COVID-19 crisis.
