VA study reveals advantages of telestroke program for people

A Department of Veterans Affairs-funded research released that a telestroke scheme enabled the prevention of needless hospital transfers for sufferers. It boosts cost-effectiveness and care efficiency. Also, it optimizes maintenance for the people who do not need to withstand an unnecessary transfer to another facility.

As reported by the correspondents in the research, telestroke enables a remote expert to treat, diagnose, and evaluate patients. This, in turn, facilitates better utilization percentages for the thrombolytic medication alteplase and better access in geographically under-resourced regions.

By August 2021, the project was active in around 50 facilities in the country. For this research, experimenters assessed 3,488 stroke cases from 3,289 people at 21 capabilities that had enlisted the NTSP.
