Samsung has introduced a Family Care to help users monitor the health condition of their loved ones remotely using smart devices.

Announced in South Korea back in June and became available in the US since mid-August, the service is integrated into Samsung’s SmartThings platform and can also be accessed on Galaxy smartphones.

Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings at Samsung Electronics, stated in the announcement that the consumer electronics giant developed the Family Care feature to address the common challenges families face in their caregiving responsibilities.

Jung added that Samsung aims to provide smarter and more user-friendly solutions by integrating advanced AI technology into their services to enhance the quality of life for customers and their loved ones.

The feature leverages artificial intelligence to analyze the daily activities of the person under care and sends a notification to the concerned kin when it detects an abnormality. Family Care services can also help set reminders for crucial activities such as taking medications and checking for blood pressure.

The feature allows users to manage smart devices at home and schedule clinical appointments on a Galaxy smartphone or Samsung TV. With the location tracking feature, users can keep track of the movements of their loved ones, helping check if their loved ones attend clinical appointments as they should.

While the service is free, it can only work with Galaxy smartphones and SmartThings hubs. This could be a barrier for some people looking to use the feature.

Samsung Investing More into Smart Health Monitoring Features

Samsung has been at the forefront of AI health monitoring features in smart devices. The company has integrated health monitoring tools in its latest line of smartphones and wearables, giving users a variety of options. Recently, the company released a First-of-its-kind AI-powered Ring for Digital Health Monitoring.

Known as the Samsung Galaxy Ring, the smart wearable packs a wide range of features to simplify personal health as the demand for digital health monitoring solutions continues to rise every day.

From sleep monitoring to activity and heart rate monitoring, the features make it easy for users to keep track of their daily well-being and make adjustments based on AI-generated health insights to stay in the best condition possible.
