Vave Health, a California-based medical device company, has partnered with Inteleos Foundation, a global non-profit organization promoting equity in healthcare technology to boost access to ultrasound services in low-income and under-resourced communities globally.
Founded in 2015 by Dr.Amin Nikoozadeh, Vave Health aims to revolutionize healthcare delivery using innovative, efficient, low-cost, and accessible medical devices. The innovative ultrasound device developer donated handheld ultrasound devices to three programs based at the Inteleos Foundation.
The programs include:
- The Maternal Health Grand Challenge— an initiative launched to minimize maternal-fetal mortalities in countries within Sub-Saharan Africa by at least 20% through training on scalable ultrasound models.
- MedMissions— yearly research grants supporting community health partners integrating ultrasound into the workforce in low-resource regions worldwide.
- The Imaging for Impact Accelerator— a group of clinical innovators drawn from 20 countries leading high-impact ultrasound interventions in their communities.
Portable Ultrasound Device to Improve Access to Medical Imaging
The partnership between the two organizations will help address the historical challenges of insufficient training and skill evaluation before distributing philanthropic medical equipment. Additionally, the collaboration will allow for a comprehensive data collection and assessment of the operation.
With millions of people lacking access to medical imaging services, building innovative medical devices alongside comprehensive training, provider certification, and continuous support can help bridge the accessibility gap on a cost-effective budget.
In a press release on July 29, Amin Nikoozadeh, CEO and Founder of Vave Health, said the company’s mission is to revolutionize the healthcare sector by providing advanced, affordable, and accessible ultrasound technology.
Nikoozadeh added that the partnership would allow Vave Health to extend its innovative medical technology solutions to communities that need them, ensuring healthcare providers are better equipped to deliver quality care.
The Foundation will ensure the successful delivery of the devices through its signature global programs currently in progress. The ultrasound equipment includes a warranty and ongoing customer support, which aims to ensure the successful deployment and sustainable use of the device.
