GE HealthCare, a leading medical technology company focusing on pharmaceutical diagnostics and digital solutions innovations, has joined forces with MediView XR Inc., a leading clinical augmented reality med-tech company, to launch the World’s first augmented reality-based interventional radiology suite for clinical use.

Known as the OmnifyXR Interventional Suite, it features 3D anatomy model visualization, holographic heads-up display streaming live medical imaging, and advanced imaging technologies.

The system has been installed at North Star Vascular and Interventional in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the first time to simplify the work of clinicians while also improving efficiency and accuracy in image-guided therapies.

Based on its innovative design, and features, the suite allows for remote collaboration in precision therapies in various interventional procedures. With the rapidly increasing need for improved diagnostics and precision care, image-guided therapy has become one of the fastest-evolving spaces.

It leverages the power of advanced imaging and visualization to make it possible to treat multiple conditions with little or no surgical procedures needed. However, the existing solutions do have positioning restrictions and consume a lot of time due to workplace adjustments.

OmnifyXR overcomes such challenges due to its design, which allows it to fit seamlessly into other interventional suites. It utilizes augmented reality to improve workflow efficiency and ergonomics, resulting in improved visualization and better collaborative care.

Is OmnifyXR a Game-changer?

OmnifyXR is a MediView product developed in partnership with GE HealthCare designed to support clinicians in multiple ways, including the following:

Workflow efficiency: Designed with a heads-up display headset that displays many customizable imaging video streams, allowing for better ergonomics in any working position. This feature also allows clinicians to display up to four different video streams that are fully customizable to meet workflow needs, with an option for hands-free interactions through voice commands.

Improved Visualization: The system is designed to help clinicians assess complex tissues and anatomies with a 3D assist that allows them to interact with a holographic model of the patient’s anatomy to enable intraprocedural planning.

Enables collaborative care: OmnifyXR enables remote consultations, training, collaboration, and support.

OmnifyXR is currently available in the United States with GE HealthCare interventional X-ray systems, such as the Innova IGS platform with AutoRight and the Allia IGS platform.

The company is working on a global expansion to offer the technology to customers worldwide.
