Eko Health, a San Francisco-based health tech startup pioneering the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for early lung and heart disease detection, has received a key designation code for its SENSORA™ platform designed for early disease detection.

According to the company’s announcement, SENSORA™ received a Category III Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code from the American Medical Association (AMA). The Category III CPT code set to be effective as of July 1, 2025, will extend advanced heart disease detection capabilities to hospitals across the United States, offering coverage and reimbursements.

Co-founded in 2013 by Connor Landgraf and Jason Bellet, Eko Health has been at the forefront of developing innovative lung and heart diagnostic devices. The company is known for its AI-powered digital stethoscope, which eliminates distracting ambient noise through signal amplification, improving diagnosis and patient care.

The AI-driven stethoscopes enable clinicians to visualize, record, and share accurate patient data seamlessly through a smartphone app.

Eko Health Smart Stethoscope

Eko Health’s SENSORA is an advanced early disease diagnostic platform featuring FDA-approved AI algorithms capable of detecting early signs of heart structural problems such as low ejection fraction (Low EF), structural heart murmurs, and arrhythmias in frontline care settings.

The platform is compatible with Eko’s CORE 500™, an advanced digital stethoscope featuring ECG technology to help improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care outcomes.

With heart disease ranked among the leading causes of death globally, accounting for 1 in 5 deaths in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), early detection plays a critical role in delivering life-saving treatments for patients.

SENSORA™ empowers clinicians to identify cardiac issues earlier, enhancing proactive healthcare and reducing the burden associated with advanced disease management.
