Japan-based health technology startup Ubie Inc. has secured significant funding from Google to transform the country’s healthcare using generative AI alongside other innovative healthcare technologies.
Co-founded in 2017 by Kota Kubo, and Yoshinori Abe MD, Ubie Inc. has developed a health technology platform providing SaaS products for healthcare organizations and AI-driven disease prediction for consumers.
Google’s financial backing will help boost Ubie’s impact on improving healthcare efficiency and accessibility throughout Japan and beyond, in line with its mission of using its technology to guide people to appropriate care.
AI-powered Healthcare Solutions
Since its founding in 2017, the company has developed a wide range of impactful digital tools, including the Ubie AI Symptom Checker, a popular digital diagnostic tool that rivals physicians in accuracy and outperforms its peers, according to recent research.
Ubie AI Symptom Checker allows patients to answer a short online questionnaire about their symptoms. The AI symptom checker then gives possible causes and severity of the illnesses and guides users through the available care options for free.
With possible causes of users’ illness and care options, the company collaborates with pharmaceutical to ensure they get appropriate treatments for Ubie for Pharma service, improving access to affordable healthcare.
Currently, the digital symptom checker helps guide over 12 million users monthly to find appropriate care based on their symptoms.
In addition to the AI symptom checker, the company has also developed Ubie Medical Navigator, a digital patient engagement tool currently used by over 17,00 healthcare organizations to enhance consultations and patient onboarding.
In 2022, Ubie established a subsidiary in New York, United States, following great success in the domestic market. With the new investment from Google, Ubie plans to expand to other markets globally.
