Amethyst Care, a Trinity College-based AI health tech startup developing an AI-backed voice assistant to help people with mobility issues at home, has secured over $543,000 (€500,000) in seed funding from Enterprise Ireland to expand and advance its innovative tech product to commercialization.
Led by Prof Vinny Wade, chair of AI at Trinity’s School of Computer Science and Statistics, formerly director at Adapt, the startup’s new capital was raised from Enterprise Ireland’s funding program focusing on supporting third-level researchers to develop and commercialize innovative products and services.
Amethyst Care seeks to help detect early signs of cognitive decline and enable early intervention that could delay, mitigate, or reverse the progression of cognitive illness. The innovative technology aims to help those suffering from mental decline live independently at home.
As reported by Siliconrepublic, Prof Wade expressed his confidence in the innovative speech recognition technology’s potential to provide daily voice assistance and continuous care support to those with cognitive issues. He added that the funding would help the company expand its team and realize commercialization in the next 18 months.

The technology is designed to monitor the user’s vital signs continuously, send reminders for medications and important appointments, and issue emergency alerts in case of an unfortunate occurrence.
Additionally, it has real-time notifications for healthcare professionals and the user’s family. It also comes with memory-enhancing tools.
