We are excited to share that Nested Knowledge has received a Phase I SBIR grant from the National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This grant, of amount $304,971 will used for development of automated tools for quantitative data extraction from text and tables in medical literature, the objective to expedite research procedures and provide a biomedical-specific solution with human oversight.
This grant will empower researchers to tackle more complex study designs efficiently. By seamlessly integrating with our current platform, this AI-powered tool will streamline the systematic literature review (SLR) process, allowing for more frequent and thorough examinations.
With this funding, Nested Knowledge will incorporate new features into our current service. Our platform already integrates AI to streamline and improve the searching, screening, and extraction of data from full texts and abstracts. Now, with the support of this grant, we will introduce tools designed to extract quantitative data from clinical study tables—a traditionally manual and time-consuming task that has been a major blockage. By automating this stage, we can significantly accelerate and enhance the efficiency of evidence synthesis, enabling more comprehensive reviews and continuous updates.
