Fun-filled Mental Elf 5K Fun Run held in Conyngham Hall, Knaresborough involved over 250 participants in a bid to support the mental health services in Harrogate District. 1500 people costumed as elves and other characters run a picturesque 5K route while being warmed up by dancing and singing X-mas carols in groups such as Harrogate Rock Choir.
Fostering Critical Funds for Mental Health Care
Due to the enhanced participation, the show collected over £7,500, with many sponsorship contributions still trickling in. The money will be given to Mind in Harrogate District and will be used for important activities for the young people. These include a counseling program for 11 to 18-year-olds and a Drawing and Talking activity for young children.
Community and Corporate Engagement
Strive Group was the official sponsor of the event, and 16 of the Strive Group’s representatives participated in the marathon as well. Local companies like S&SA Architects, McCormicks Solicitors, and Harrogate Mumbler also fielded teams to show their support for the race.
Exam Secrets & Merry Making
”Your Harrogate Radio,” presided over by Nick Hancock, includes a fun fancy dress competition again accompanied by prizes sponsored by Mother Shipton’s Cave and Rudding Park. The dog winning the Best Dressed Dog was Tilly the Spaniel and the prize was a gift box from HG Pets.
Holly Astbury, Lead Organiser of Mind in Harrogate District, commented on the results, “We could not be happier for our first Mental Elf 5K Fun Run.” The money will be used to fund any necessary mental health services for children and young people within our society.
Mind in Harrogate District also wishes to express its gratitude to everyone who took part in the event, who gave their time to help, and who sponsored the event. The people have been so kind and passionate about the event that the team has expressed the desire to prepare for next year’s event.
