Medulance, a New Delhi-based startup specializing in emergency healthcare services, has successfully raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Alkemi Growth Capital. This funding round also saw participation from prominent investors, including Dexter Capital, Aman Gupta (founder of Boat), and Namita Thapar (executive director at Emcure Pharmaceuticals). After operating profitably as a bootstrapped venture for six years, Medulance has secured fresh capital to fuel its ambitious expansion plans.
The startup’s primary goal with this funding is to enhance its presence across India while leveraging advanced emergency management technology to streamline response times and service efficiency in more than 500 cities nationwide. Medulance aims to make significant strides in extending its services to tier 2 and tier 3 cities, with a bold vision to expand its reach to over 1,000 cities within the next 15-18 months. This expansion initiative aligns with the company’s mission to provide vital emergency healthcare access to underserved communities in India. In addition to geographical expansion, Medulance is actively seeking public-private partnerships to broaden its service offerings to 3-4 states in the coming years.
Medulance aims to strengthen its operational capabilities and enhance emergency response infrastructure on a larger scale by forging strategic collaborations with government entities and private stakeholders. The startup’s commitment to faster emergency healthcare is seen by its focus on reducing emergency call answering times and optimizing service response efficiency.
Commenting on the successful funding round, Medulance thanked investors for their confidence and support in realizing the company’s growth ambitions. The infusion of capital will enable Medulance to accelerate its expansion plans and deploy advanced technologies that enhance the overall efficacy of emergency healthcare services. “Through this capital, Medulance would leverage the latest technology, including 5G and smart remote monitoring via its smart ambulances to create a 360-degree ecosystem by partnering with corporates, governments, and insurance companies,” Medulance’s Chief Operating Officer Ravjot Arora said. It is worth noting that Medulance was featured in the Indian version of Shark Tank, and the company got funding from the show, too. However, it is unknown if that funding got finalized or didn’t go through.
