29 community health centers around the country to get funds from the HHS. The investment is to provide virtual care to all.
Virtual care for underserved groups receives $55 million from HHS. The money is going to use in telehealth and remote patient monitoring. Also, digital patient tools and health information technology come under this.
The US Department of Health and Human Services announces the award of $55 million for virtual care.
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra stated, “Virtual care has been a game-changer for patients, especially during the pandemic; this funding will help health centers leverage the latest technology and innovations to expand access to quality primary care for underserved communities,”.
A recent article on the HRSA website states community health centers got $1.4 million. Also,a $2 million, with an average of $1,881,527.
These grants are going to encourage developing health centers. These also aim to put in place test strategies. These are to optimize virtual care. However, this is to improve clinical quality for underserved communities. It also covers vulnerable populations. HRSA also aims to install these strategies across health centers nationwide.
HRSA states that recipients will undergo collaborative learning and evaluation. This will also include OVC award recipients to get data and progress for projects. For systematic design, implementation, and evaluation, OVC funding will come into play.
The funding will go up by $7.3 billion. The American Rescue Plan, health centers mitigate the effects of COVID-19.
Many awardees belong to Western states or the East Coast. A little is in the Midwest and two in the Southeast region. Two recipients are in Hawaii, and one is in Puerto Rico.
These awards are to deliver primary care. However, the Goal is that this primary care reaches needy communities.
The Biden administration recently showed its support for telehealth. This was through funding of tens of millions of HHS dollars. This also puts forward for family planning and pediatrics. Along with tech support and broadband expansions.
