MindAffect, a Netherland-based health tech startup, has secured $1.18 million in a Series A Funding round to advance its revolutionary hearing diagnostics technology to market, the company announced on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Spun off from Radboud University’s Donders Institute in 2017, MindAffect focuses on developing EEG-based communication and diagnostic systems for hearing, vision, and brain health for all, with its latest technology being a brain-computer interface critical for improving neural circuit testing and human communication.
The startup has conducted three funding rounds, with the latest round led by Barco Limpo and backed by Wasteland Investments, NLC, and private investors boosting its funding to $2.61 million.
MindAffect’s Next-Generation Hearing Diagnostic System
With over 1.6 billion people struggling with diagnostic tests, including hearing tests that need active responses, the existing testing systems, such as pure-tone, can be challenging or inaccurate, especially for individuals who cannot communicate properly due to disability or age for the case of infants and children.
However, MindAffect’s revolutionary response-free hearing diagnostics system, known as Aurora, aims to address such issues using state-of-the-art brain-compute technology. Designed with a headband, Aurora features electrodes that capture and relay the brain’s automatic responses, eliminating the need for constant physical or verbal feedback from the patient.
With the new diagnostic system combining the power of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, neuroscience, and AI, MindAffect aims to deliver advanced testing solutions that cater to everyone— including hard-to-test patients such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and children.
