Chiyo, a pioneering holistic fertility care platform, aims to ease the journey of providing nutrition to postpartum moms with personalized nutrition advice and meal delivery services. Founded by Irene Liu, Chiyo takes inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine and combines it with modern nutritional science to offer stage-specific and symptom-targeted nutrition programs for women from fertility through postpartum.
The idea for Chiyo stemmed from Liu’s personal experiences and cultural background. Witnessing her mother send traditional Chinese medicine meals to her aunt after childbirth, Liu recognized the decisive role of food as medicine. Drawing from her expertise in nutritional science and Eastern food therapy, Liu envisioned a platform that would provide comprehensive support to women during their fertility journey and beyond.
“I’ve always grown up with a more holistic medicine approach, and how you use food to prevent disease, heal, and make you feel better — a more functional food way of thinking,” Liu explained. “After seeing what postpartum care looks like in Asia and other more ancient cultures, I wondered why this doesn’t exist in the U.S. Why aren’t we using functional food in this way for a significant lifestyle if your body keeps changing?
