If you are still confused between the newer terms introduced in the health care industry, which are telehealth and telemedicine, then you must note that telemedicine is when you order your medicines digitally via an app or website, whereas telehealth is just like a virtual clinic where you even get prescriptions from your doctor virtually and then you can order them from your nearest medical store or even from telemedicine apps or startups. Talking about telehealth, it has become one of the biggest sensations in the industry with the idea that senior citizens worldwide can have virtual care taken right inside the comfort of their own houses.
Talking about telehealth, a Canadian startup in the telehealth field has just raised a funding round of $10M to expand its care offerings and runs by the name of Felix. To describe this telehealth startup, “Felix is a DTC end-to-end digital healthcare platform providing telehealth and prescription delivery, best known for providing online access to birth control and erectile dysfunction treatments”. Now, we know that covering all of the health industry right from one platform is possible but it is better if you niche down and provide specific treatments so that you can make your own space in the industry.
Felix CEO Kyle Zien says that “We will continue our patient-centric mission to empower Canadians to take control of their health and wellbeing as we expand our offering and dive deeper into areas of healthcare people may find sensitive or inaccessible.” One of the investors in Felix, WhiteCap Venture Partners released a statement saying that “Healthcare innovation was already happening in Canada, but the last 11 months have been a major accelerant. Launching pre-pandemic and being a first mover in the space has put Felix in a strong position to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. We’re proud to partner with the team at Felix,” Felix wants to direct its new round of funding to expand at more locations in Quebec and provide care offerings for migraine, mental health, HIV protection and more. Felix is focusing on providing care to people in areas of health which people find sensitive, stigmatized or inaccessible.
